VP External: Hakan Tunc

Hakan, Hako, Tunc is here! He, as a natural leader, embodies constant mindfulness in both personal and professional spheres. Raised in Turkiye and maturing in Montreal, QC, he embraced values of unconditional compassion, kindness, and love.

Hakan has worked as a metallurgist and engineering consultant in the Canadian mining industry for five years. As a professional, he figured out how leaders strategize and create functional working environments. However, Hakan realized that corporate stability led him to complacency and burnout as a life-long learner.

Seeking a shift, Hakan pursues entrepreneurship, drawn to professional chaos. Well-travelled and connected globally, as VP External, he champions classmates' initiatives as their cheerleader.

In addition to practicing mindfulness through meditation, journaling, and reading about human psychology, Hakan loves to play video games, hike, weightlift, run, bike, kayak, and ride ATVs. He is a great cook and aspiring single malt enthusiast. Whenever he finds the time, Hakan chases all the raves in Vancouver as a techno and house fan.

Hakan is a big Galatasaray fan, so if you want to befriend him, you need to act like you care about Turkiye’s top football team.

But wait, there's more! This finance wizard isn't just about crunching numbers—she's a black belt in Karate, a mime maestro, and a classical dancer with a whopping 15 years of practice! She can balance budgets and pirouettes like a boss!

VP Internal: Madeline Dao

Madeline proudly orchestrated production operations for world-renowned companies in between attending pop concerts around Asia for over 5 years before coming to Vancouver as an MBA student at the University of British Columbia.

Born on the Russian land of birch trees, raised in the vibrant culture (and delicious culinary) of Vietnam, and solo adventured through the enchanting corners of Europe for six months during her undergrads, Madeline believes home can be just about anywhere that gives you that warm, fuzzy feeling of belonging. Thus, she aspired to become VP Internal to sprinkle that sense of 'home' magic over her cohort, trying her best to ensure everyone feels supported, cared for, and truly heard.

VP Student Development: Pamela Tumbocon

Curiosity and a growth mindset have led Pam to many places—from traveling the globe and volunteering in rural communities to working in the corporate world, and now to pursuing an MBA.

Let's start from the beginning. Pam grew up in the Philippines and then immigrated to Canada, where she completed her BSc in Health Sciences at SFU. After graduating, she returned to the Philippines, where she spent five years working in strategy and marketing within the healthcare industry. Her work on primary healthcare and COVID-19 projects ignited her passion for developing equitable and innovative solutions for communities.

Currently, she is pursuing an MBA at UBC to broaden her knowledge and network, aiming to accelerate her career in the healthcare sector. Pam is passionate about connecting with people and helping them reach their full potential. As the VP of Student Development, she hopes to offer opportunities for her cohort to develop their interpersonal and professional skills through workshops on storytelling, networking, and more.

Calling both the Philippines and Canada home, Pam can be found either 30 meters underwater scuba diving, or hiking trails. She enjoys organizing events for friends and family (90% chance it's a themed party) and is always eager to try new things. Pam enjoys all the clichés—long walks on the beach, people-watching in cafes, traveling to new places, and capturing every moment of her life through journaling or video diaries. It doesn't take a lot to make her happy, really, just the simple joys of connection, community, and minimal deadlines.
