<image:caption>Hakan, Hako, Tunc is here! He, as a natural leader, embodies constant mindfulness in both personal and professional spheres. Raised in Turkiye and maturing in Montreal, QC, he embraced values of unconditional compassion, kindness, and love. Hakan has worked as a metallurgist and engineering consultant in the Canadian mining industry for five years. As a professional, he figured out how leaders strategize and create functional working environments. However, Hakan realized that corporate stability led him to complacency and burnout as a life-long learner. Seeking a shift, Hakan pursues entrepreneurship, drawn to professional chaos. Well-travelled and connected globally, as VP External, he champions classmates' initiatives as their cheerleader. In addition to practicing mindfulness through meditation, journaling, and reading about human psychology, Hakan loves to play video games, hike, weightlift, run, bike, kayak, and ride ATVs. He is a great cook and aspiring single malt enthusiast. Whenever he finds the time, Hakan chases all the raves in Vancouver as a techno and house fan. <image:title>Full Time Exec Council Class of 2025 - VP Student Development: Pamela Tumbocon</image:title>
<image:caption>Curiosity and a growth mindset have led Pam to many places—from traveling the globe and volunteering in rural communities to working in the corporate world, and now to pursuing an MBA. Let's start from the beginning. Pam grew up in the Philippines and then immigrated to Canada, where she completed her BSc in Health Sciences at SFU. After graduating, she returned to the Philippines, where she spent five years working in strategy and marketing within the healthcare industry. Her work on primary healthcare and COVID-19 projects ignited her passion for developing equitable and innovative solutions for communities. Currently, she is pursuing an MBA at UBC to broaden her knowledge and network, aiming to accelerate her career in the healthcare sector. Pam is passionate about connecting with people and helping them reach their full potential. As the VP of Student Development, she hopes to offer opportunities for her cohort to develop their interpersonal and professional skills through workshops on storytelling, networking, and more. Calling both the Philippines and Canada home, Pam can be found either 30 meters underwater scuba diving, or hiking trails. She enjoys organizing events for friends and family (90% chance it's a themed party) and is always eager to try new things. Pam enjoys all the clichés—long walks on the beach, people-watching in cafes, traveling to new places, and capturing every moment of her life through journaling or video diaries. It doesn't take a lot to make her happy, really, just the simple joys of connection, community, and minimal deadlines.</image:caption>

I believe even small positive signals can shift the mood in a meaningful way. A simple message, a kind word, or a small nudge can make a big difference. Through this role, I try to bring that energy into our MBA community. After talking with many of my cohort friends, I realized that everyone came here with their own story like different challenges, opportunities, and personal goals. That made me see how meaningful this MBA journey truly is for each of us. And it naturally made me want to contribute more to this community and be part of making this experience even better. <image:title>Podcast Club - Co-President: Kae Yokoyama</image:title>
<image:caption>Hi, I’m Kae, a UBC MBA student with a background in hedge fund accounting and a big interest in how people grow through change. Before business school, I worked on fund reporting and process improvements, and I loved turning messy data into clear stories that help teams make decisions. Outside of class, I enjoy building communities that feel welcoming and practical, especially for students navigating new cities, careers, and cultures. As Co-President of the MBA Podcast Club, I’m excited to create a space where students share real experiences, lessons learned, and the moments that shaped them, so others feel a little more confident in their own journey.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I am a storyteller at heart with a background in finance and strategy, and I believe powerful ideas only matter if they’re shared well. Throughout my journey, I’ve seen how stories shape brands, careers, and communities and podcasts are one of the most authentic ways to tell them. I started the Podcast Club to create a space where curious minds can find their voice.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Mariajosé is a co-founder of Amamba, a coffee and juice bar she helped build and operate in Mexico City. Through her entrepreneurial journey, she developed a strong interest in environmental and social sustainability after experiencing how operational choices affect both people and the environment. At Amamba, she worked on reducing the business’s environmental footprint (rethinking sourcing, waste, and daily practices), while maintaining profitability and a community-centered model. That experience shaped her conviction that small businesses can be both sustainable and financially viable, and motivated her to pursue an MBA to explore how these principles can scale within larger organizations. She is particularly interested in impact investing as both a platform and a philosophy—one that uses capital to support innovative, scalable solutions at the intersection of business and society. Mariajosé believes meaningful change is driven by collaboration, social engagement, and thoughtful capital allocation. These experiences shaped his conviction that sustainability is most effective when grounded in rigorous analysis and real economic trade-offs. He is particularly interested in how data and finance can be used to integrate climate risk and long-term value creation into core business and investment decisions. <image:title>Women in Business Club - Co-President: Husandeep Kaur</image:title>
<image:caption>Born and raised in India, I grew up witnessing many women struggle to speak up for themselves, both in professional settings and personal spaces within a male-dominated society. Leaving my family behind and moving abroad at a young age pushed me far beyond my comfort zone and gave me the opportunity to build the life I had always envisioned. Over time, I realized that women’s strongest supporters are often other women. There is a unique sense of comfort, strength, and belonging that comes from being surrounded by women who uplift one another. This realization inspired me to be part of something bigger—to help create a safe, trusted space where women can connect, support each other, and grow together. After studying science, project management, and supply chain management prior to my MBA, and working in the supply chain industry for several years, I became even more aware of how underrepresented women are in this field. Rather than discouraging me, this motivated me to push myself further so I can create impact, challenge norms, and inspire others to do the same. Outside of work and studies, you’ll find me paddle boarding on the lake or hiking the beautiful mountains of British Columbia. Kindness is my way of living, and it reflects in everything I do- this is also how I hope to shape Women in Business: a kind, safe, and strong community.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The Outdoor Photography Club is less about perfection and more about remembering time spent outside. For me, photos are a way to hold onto moments—long days on the trail, changing light, and shared experiences with others. Through the club, and especially our two annual photo competitions, I love seeing how different people capture and interpret the same outdoors we explore together. My goal as Co-President is to create a welcoming space where members come together, get outside often, and share stories through photos that reflect both personal memories and a collective appreciation for the natural world.</image:caption>
