The Sauder MBA Sailing Club was created in 2003 of avid sailors from the Sauder School of Business to share and foster passion for sailing.
Our Mission is:
▪ To apply teamwork capabilities of MBA students in both a mentally and physically competitive environment and to foster decisions making skills under high pressure.
▪ To share and transmit the passion of sailing among the Sauder MBA students and alumni.
▪ To compete in world-renowned national and international regattas.
▪ To increase the brand awareness of the Sauder School of Business.
Our Events:
CYA Sailing Lessons
The sailing experience is one of the strong differentiators of the Sauder School of Business. To build a solid skill base, the MBA sailing club organizes sailing lessons for the MBA class. Each year, about 20% of the class participate at the lessons taught by certified CYA sailing instructors and complete their Pleasure Craft Operator Card and CYA basic cruising license.
Regattas in Vancouver
Vancouver is one of the best sailing spots of the world. Every week the club members enjoy sailing in English Bay and regularly participate in local regattas in Vancouver. The participation at theses regattas is an ideal opportunity to increase the sailing skills and to build strong teams.
Rolex MBA Regatta & Conference in Italy
Every year the club puts together a team to go to Italy and attend the prestigious MBA Regatta organized by SDA Bocconi Business School. This event attracts the business students from all over the world and presents a great opportunity to promote The Sauder School of Business internationally. The Sauder team has been 3rd for the last two consecutive years and finally took home the 1st place spot this year. Amazing!

New Class Welcome Event
At the end of August, the UBC MBA Sailing club organizes a sailing event for the incoming students of the new class to introduce them to the club and its activities and inspire the beginners. In the future, the vision is to have an event where sailors from different business schools come and compete in a regatta in the Vancouver area.
Sponsorship
The club has sponsorship from the business community that has been gained over years of dedication leading to great mutual benefit. The club receives support from an extensive list of sources, from training to apparel, without which the club would not be able to operate to the high level that it has enjoyed. The students appreciate this support a great deal. The companies have also been able to generate benefits from the relationship with the sailing team, in that they have gained exposure locally and internationally. We have spread the word about our supporters through our events, our website and in discussions throughout the sailing and business community. Being the leaders of tomorrow, the MBA students are an exceptional bed from which to grow a customer base within the community. Also since our program is extremely internationally focused it is a great opportunity to spread your message throughout the world.
