Club Information

The Public Affairs Club is new to UBC in 2010, and brings together Sauder MBA students with an interest in the public service, politics, current affairs, governance and a sustainable society.
It aims to facilitate learning, encourage networking and engage members in critical thinking about how our city, our province, our country and others are run.

It will engage with public bodies, politicians, public service leaders and those with an interest in governance to assist students in understanding and developing best practice in governance and public service (including education, healthcare, law, social services and international relations).
While a significant element of the club’s activities involve working closely with politicians of many backgrounds, it remains non-partisan.

2010 Events

We've planned plenty of activities for 2010:

  • Speaker events on public affairs issues throughout the year (first one hopefully coming up in March in coordination with the Net Impact & Humanitarian Clubs!)
  • A team has been entered in March's GWU Case Competition in Washington DC - and will visit Congress and meet with some major NGOs while there
  • In September, we'll visit Victoria - the home of BC's Government
